Portland Stone

Portland Stone Fireplace Surrounds, Mantels, Hearths, Back Panels and Slips

Portland stone is an English limestone that is quarried on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. It has been used extensively as a building stone throughout the British Isles, notably in major public buildings in London such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Buckingham Palace and in buildings across the world, for example at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. It is a beautiful stone with a creamy white colour that is consistent across the stone.

Please Note: Limestone and marble are natural materials and may be subject to differences in colour, shade, grain, markings and fossilisation. The image shown is a typical representation of this stone.

We work with Classic Mantels to supply Fireplace Surrounds, Mantels, Hearths, Back Panels & Slips. They can be made in any readily available and suitable timber, limestone or marble.
